With the ministerial decree 190/2024 as amended by 123/2025, Cyprus has defined its national geographical zones, according to Article 15 of Regulation 2019/947 . When defining UAS geographical zones for safety, security, privacy or environmental reasons, Member States may:
- prohibit certain or all UAS operations, request particular conditions for certain or all UAS operations or request a prior operational authorisation for certain or all UAS operations;
- subject UAS operations to specified environmental standards;
- allow access to certain UAS classes only;
- allow access only to UAS equipped with certain technical features, in particular remote identification systems or geoawareness systems.
The operator will have the ability to download the geographical zones map, in digital format, and upload it into the drone’s geoawareness system, provided the drone has this ability.
Before conducting any UAS operations please make sure that your flight will not be over a RESTRICTED or PROHIBITED zone by carefully examining the Geo Zones Map for Cyprus which can be found here.

Flights in Restricted Zones (yellow color in the map) can only be conducted after authorisation form the Administrator of the zone, following an application for flight permission from the UAS operator. At the end of the page you can download the application forms for the National Airports and for the National Guard for the Republic of Cyprus.
