The Department of Civil Aviation is the authority responsible for the establishment as well as the administration of the UAS geographical zones in proximity of the two main international airports. As shown below, both Larnaca and Paphos airports are inside two zones marked as A and B.

ZONE  A (red colour) –  UAS operations inside this zone are strictly PROHIBITED because the risk of encounter with manned aircraft is very high due to the proximity of the runways of both airports. UAS operators who wish to conduct operationsin this zone (A) have to request for a special permission from the Department of Civil Aviation, following an application of an operational authorisation and a SORA risk assessment (fees applied). More detailed information about applying for an operational authorisation can be found here.

ZONE B (yellow colour) –  UAS operations inside this zone are RESTRICTED due to the proximity of the two airports.  UAS operators who wish to conduct operationsin this zone (B) have to request a special permission from the Department of Civil Aviation by completing and submitting the application form which can be found here. Please note that a third party insurance cover of €1,000,000 is mandatory for UAS operations inside this zone (B).
